Gina M.South, J.D., State Director
Gina M. (Tur) South is the State Director for the Alabama Network of Children’s Advocacy Centers (CACs), and a member in good standing of the Alabama State Bar Association. Mrs. South is committed to advocating for children, and works with legislators to protect children in her capacity as State Director. Additionally, she provides technical support to all of the CACs in Alabama, and provides education/awareness for both professionals and members of the community. Prior to her work with the CACs, Mrs. South taught Criminal Justice and Legal Studies at Faulkner University for 8 years. During that time, she practiced pro bono Family Law and was a member of the Volunteer Lawyers Association of Alabama. Mrs. South graduated from the University of Oklahoma College of Law, from Freed-Hardeman University with a double major in English and Theatre, and from Mars Hill Bible School in Florence, Alabama. Mrs. South is married to Jason South, the Children’s Minister at Vaughn Park Church of Christ, and a Theatre Professor at Faulkner University. Together they have four children; Crispin (13), Duncan (10), William (7), and Juliet (2), and one honorary grown child, Cristie DeLaVega. The Souths are also current foster and adoptive parents for Agape of Central Alabama, and were awarded the Family of the Year award for 2012 by the Family Guidance Center of Alabama. When she is not at work, Mrs. South enjoys taking care of children, helping her husband teach Bible Classes, sewing, reading, acting and writing.
